Wearing pants at Knee Down

Wearing pants at Knee Down
A college student in Surabaya question, whether if we have to wear pants above the ankle should be elevated at or below the knee? This question is related to the recommendation disampikannya group of Muslims in Indonesia for men to wear pants that high, almost below the knee. This group is growing on college campuses.

As far as we know, the practice of wearing trousers above the ankle, this refers to a hadith narrated by Al-Bukhari from Abu Hurairah. That the Prophet SAW said,
ما أسفل من الكعبين من الإزار ففي النار

Gloves (pair) are below the ankle will be placed in hell
From the hadith scholars argue that the sunnah does not exceed wore the ankles. Some scholars even forbidden to wear underwear under your ankles if it meant lil khulayah or because of pride. It is also based on another hadith narrated by al-Bukhari from Ibn Umar. Rasulullah SAW said,

لا ينظر الله إلى من جر ثوبه خيلاء

God does not see those who humble clothes with pride.
This certainly fits the context of the time, that the clothing or wearing apparel lowered below the knee in the Arab region at that time was synonymous with fun and pride.
Well, it fiqhiyah, or according to the jurists, the hadith is understood that the fabric on the pants or ankle holster is meant to be free from dirt or unclean. This means that the particulars masalikul illat or Sunnah is to avoid lifting pants that may be unclean in the ground or the street we passed.
Under the provisions of this jurisprudence, we think, we welcome the extent of wear ankle, did not have on it, as long as we can ensure we will be able to keep the pants from dirt and unclean, for example by wearing shoes or sandals or a lift or bend our pants at the time of street rain or wet.
It should be contemplated that the dress is part of the culture. In Islam we know the term tahzin or ethics that is consistent in appearance in accordance with customary local environment. You are welcome to follow the trend of contemporary clothing from still adhering to the mandatory provisions for the men have to cover part of the body from the navel to the knee.
